TIPS FOR ACNE PRONE SKIN

If you have oily skin that is prone to acne, here are some tips that will help to get your pimples away.

1. Keep your HANDS off your face.

Your hands, after touching so many things like opening the door, picking up a bag - things we do everyday, are covered with bacteria. The last thing you want is to put that bacterium on your face. If you touch your face often or worse yet pick at your pimples, you will see the zits multiply.

2. Keep your HAIR away from your face.

If you have oily skin, you probably have oily hair. Oily hair brushing against your face adds to the oil. Oil, sweat and skin debris are a great way to clog the pores in your skin, leading to more pimples. If you notice pimples appearing on your forehead or where your hair might brush against your face, your hair could be the culprit. Wear a hair band or use hair clips, tie it into a pony tail, or get a haircut to keep your hair off your face.

3. Wash your face twice a day with a good acne cleanser.

Wash your face when you wake up and at bedtime with a gentle cleanser that is meant for acne skin. Don’t over wash your face because it may cause dryness or tightness. Over washing your face or using strong soaps can strip the natural oils from the skin. Those natural oils are very important for your skin's health, so you want to keep them in place as much as possible.

4. Relax

Did you notice how pimples tend to appear more before a stressful event such as exams, a big date or a presentation? Stress wrecks havoc on your skin. So, just relax if you don’t want to break out pimples.

5. Sleep

Your skin heals itself when you sleep; in fact, your entire body heals itself when you are asleep. A night without sleep may lead to more pimples. Make it a habit to leave your worries behind and get a good night's sleep.

6. Stay away from pressed powder make-up.

Some people use a pressed powder to hide acne. However, the more you use it the worse acne can get. Think about it - by mid day, your skin gets oily, so you take out the powder and use the powder puff to apply it to your face. Now, your face has already collected some dirt, bacteria and oil from the day's activities, and when you pat your face with that powder puff, the dirt, bacteria and oil is transferred to the powder puff. You put the compact away, usually in a dark place, and the bacteria starts to multiply. Later, you take out the compact again and use the contaminated powder – the cycle continues. A better option would be to use blotting paper to blot off the excess oil. If you are determined to use pressed powder, consider using a cotton ball and dispose of it afterward to avoid cross contamination. You should also wash all make up brushes regularly with soap and water.

Oily, acne prone skin needs a lot of care, but with the right skin care routine, you'll have the clean, clear and beautiful complexion that you've always wanted.
